The Operational Cost Review

Bring your numbers. We'll bring the model.

45 minutes with someone who knows sheet plants. Your figures against a value model a UK sheet-plant GM went through line by line - where the money actually is for a plant your size, and what changing honestly involves. Not a demo. If the maths doesn't clear your bar, you'll know inside 45 minutes.

The shape of it

  • First 10 min

Your plant. What you run, what's on the floor, where the week actually goes. No slides.

  • Next 20 min

Your figures against the model. We'll build the picture from your numbers: which two or three levers carry the money for a plant your size, which ones don't, and what the range looks like at the conservative end. If a lever doesn't apply to you, we'll say so and move on.

  • Last 15 min

What changing involves. Phasing, dual running, which quiet week to go live in, the data homework, how your people get trained and how long they're slower while it happens, and what support looks like at six on a Monday morning after go-live.

What it isn't

  • Not a demo. No screens unless you ask to see something specific.
  • No pricing unless you raise it - and if you do raise it, you get a straight answer with nothing held back for a later invoice.
  • Nothing to decide on the call. No commitment, no proposal, no next step you didn't ask for.
  • We won't pretend a plant your size needs everything we sell. If two modules would do it, the summary will say that.

Two pages, in GB pounds, that you can put in front of someone else

  • Your figures, the levers that matter for your plant, and the assumption sitting behind each one - written to be read by your board or your peer group without translation.
  • An honest outline of what evaluation and rollout would involve for a plant your size, including the parts that are hard work.
  • Case studies from plants with your problem rather than your postcode - and we'll tell you plainly which country each one is in.

What to bring, and who should be in the room

Rough figures are enough. Annual revenue, roughly what you spend on board, what production costs you, including overtime, your freight spend and your waste rate. Ballpark is fine - we'll firm them up together on the call. If you'd rather walk in with a number already worked out, run the calculator first - it takes two minutes.

Bring the person whose week this changes. If you've got a scheduler, an estimator or a despatch manager who would live with this daily, bring them. They'll ask sharper questions than we will, and their answer matters more than ours.

About the last go-live

Most MDs we speak to have a system change they'd rather not repeat. One GM described a previous rollout at another plant as having "completely lost control of the business" for months.

So we'll cover it whether you ask or not:

  • what runs in parallel, and for how long
  • which quiet week to go live in, and what that does to the timeline
  • the data homework - what you'd need to clean up before anyone starts
  • who trains your people, and how long they're slower while it happens
  • what support looks like at six on a Monday morning three weeks after go-live

And if the honest answer to something is "that part will be painful", that's the answer you'll get.

  • Cumberland Packaging, one of the UK's top independent sheet plants, chose Amtech in July 2026.
  • Coleman Containers (Canada) automated scheduling from a standing start and runs on-time-in-full above 95%. Nelson Container (US) cut planning time.

Want to speak to a plant that's been through it? Ask on the call, and we'll arrange it - and we'll tell you up front which country they're in.

Book your cost review

45 minutes, one call. Bring rough figures - nothing else to prepare.

We'll send a calendar invite and the agenda above - nothing else before the call.

I'd rather just see a number first.

Fair enough. The calculator gives you a modelled figure in GB pounds in about two minutes, without speaking to anyone. Run it here, then come back when you want someone to argue with it.

Is this a sales call with a different name on it?

No. There's nothing to decide and no proposal at the end. You'll leave with a two-page summary in GB pounds whether you ever speak to us again or not.

I haven't got 45 minutes.

Then don't book. Send your figures over, and we'll send back the two-pager - it's slower, and you lose the chance to argue with us in real time, but no meeting.

We're not buying anything this year.

Most of the plants we talk to aren't. You'll still have a number you can use at budget time, and you'll know what a rollout would honestly involve before you need to plan one.

Is anyone in the UK actually using this?

Yes. A UK corrugated plant signed in July and is implementing now. There are no results to show you yet - they're mid-implementation - and we'd rather tell you that than dress a projection up as an outcome.
